was born in 1908 in Hartford, Connecticut in the United States and was an important modernist at that time. His work cut right through the field interior, industrial and exhibition designs. Nelson studied architecture at the famous Yale University. Some time later he left, because he was offered a scholarship for the American Academy in Rome, where he got acquainted with European buildings and heroes of the modern art.
Some years later, Nelson became Herman Miller’s design director. In this position, he was the driving force when it came to bringing in famous American designers, including Charles and Ray Eames
George Nelson Clocks
In 1960, he designed the famous Multi Coloured Ball Clock
, which is part of a large series of wall clocks and standing clocks. This clock immediately gives you that 50’s feeling; it has a classic and yet a modern appearance. The Multi Coloured Ball Clock is made of painted beech wood with aluminium elements. The Multi Sunburst
